You can also find the enrolment link in our Instagram Bio, or simply reach out via DM, text, email, or Facebook, and we’ll happily forward you the link. Once we receive and process the enrolment form, we’ll promptly get in touch with all the additional information you need.
Do I need to re-enrol every term ?
Enrolment is an annual commitment. Once you enrol, your participation seamlessly continues from one term to the next, providing a continuous dance journey. The enrolment window for the year concludes in December, ensuring a hassle-free and consistent experience for our dedicated dancers.
Can I enrol after a dance year has started at Dance Dynamix ?
Absolutely! While it’s ideal for dancers to start at the beginning of a dance year, we welcome new students with open arms throughout the year. Your dancer can join us whenever they’re ready!
What if I want or need to cancel the classes ?
We understand that circumstances may change. If you need to change or discontinue a class, please notify Dance Dynamix in advance. All fees are due until we receive notice of any classes being dropped. If a dancer decides to rejoin a class in the same year after discontinuing, the registration fee will be applicable again. If a student wishes to discontinue ALL dance lessons, a one-month notice must be provided in writing. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Can my child attend a free trial ?
Absolutely! If you find yourself on the fence or uncertain, we encourage you to enquire about our complimentary first trial. We understand that committing to dance classes involves logistical and financial considerations. Our free trial allows you to make a confident and informed decision before enrolling, ensuring that your child’s dance journey starts with the right fit.
Do you charge per class or per term ?
Our dance fees are designed for simplicity and convenience. They are paid upfront at the beginning of each term, ensuring a hassle-free experience for our dancers. For private lessons, charges apply on a per-class basis, offering flexibility tailored to individual preferences.
How much does it cost to attend Dance Dynamix Dance School ?
Our dance fees follow a termly structure, and they are paid upfront for your convenience. If you join mid-term, the fee will be adjusted to cover the remaining classes. Please note that fees are time-based, and private lessons or specialised classes come at a slightly higher rate. For a detailed and transparent fee structure, feel free to request one from us.
Do you offer any discounts ?
Certainly! A 10% discount is available to those who pay upfront for the entire year (four terms). This discount is exclusively for those who enrol at the start of the new year in January. Additionally, you can save money by choosing one of our Triple Threat packages, which include Modern Dance, Ballet, and Hip Hop. Regrettably, we do not offer sibling discounts. We also offer VIP Re-enrolment incentives at the end of the dance year to those that continue to be loyal supporters of our dance school.
Where is Dance Dynamix Dance School situated ?
Our vibrant classes take place at the Beachlands Memorial Hall, located at 49 Wakelin Rd, Beachlands, Auckland, New Zealand. Nestled conveniently close to Beachlands School and other local spots, it’s easy for parents to run errands, grab a coffee at the nearby bakery, or even walk to class if they fancy. Consider organising lift-clubs with other parents for added convenience and a true sense of community.
Can Mum and Dad watch the class ?
Certainly! We understand the excitement of seeing your child dance. For the first lesson or trial, parents are welcome to observe. However, starting from the second class, we kindly ask parents to wait outside the classroom. This helps create an optimal learning environment for our dancers. Distractions can impact their focus, and some children may feel uneasy with an audience. Our priority is to maximise the value of every moment spent in class for the benefit of your child. We acknowledge unique circumstances and offer special approaches for those who may find separation challenging. Additionally, we organise Watching-week during the last week of each term, providing parents with a dedicated opportunity to observe the progress and joy of their child’s dance journey.
Can Mum and Dad see me whilst I’m dancing ?
Certainly! While the doors are occasionally closed due to weather or air conditioning, there are times when the hall’s doors or kitchen area’s sliding windows are open, allowing parents to take a sneak peek at their child’s dance session.
What opportunities are there for my child ?
Your dancer’s journey at Dance Dynamix is filled with exciting possibilities! From examinations, evaluations, and medal performance exams to in-house progress reports, becoming dancer of the week, and engaging in a diverse range of dance styles and choreography—opportunities abound. We focus on developing problem-solving skills and emphasising good technique over mere tricks. Our unique approach ensures dancers understand movement, not just steps, fostering essential life skills, friendships, and a sense of discipline and commitment. At Dance Dynamix, we work hard and play hard, creating an enriching experience for every dancer.
Do you do competitions ?
No, we are a non-competitive dance school, and we do not participate in the competition circuit. Our emphasis is on enhancing the skills of recreational dancers, fostering the development of dance technique, conducting dance exams and evaluations to measure individual progress, and organising performances. We encourage our dancers to compete against themselves, learn from their peers, make friends, and collaborate. While we do not engage in traditional dance competitions, we are open to participating in Eisteddfods.
Is it compulsory to do exams ?
While we encourage exams, they are not mandatory. We carefully consider examination entries, recognising that some may feel nervous. However, exams should never induce severe stress or anxiety. The well-being of the student is our top priority, and the exam experience is designed to be pleasant for well-prepared students.
What is Modern Dance ?
Modern dance is a broad genre of dance that emerged as a reaction to the more rigid structures of ballet in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Unlike classical ballet, modern dance is characterised by a greater sense of freedom and expressiveness. At Dance Dynamix Dance School, we adhere to the comprehensive Modern Dance Curriculum outlined by the Association of International Dance Teachers Association (AIDT). This curriculum encompasses a diverse range of Modern Dance styles, including Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, and more, ensuring a well-rounded Modern dance education for our students.
Is it compulsory to wear the dance uniform ?
Yes, wearing the correct dance uniform is mandatory. Grooming is a valuable aspect of dance, and wearing the uniform with pride creates a sense of culture and community in our school. The uniform is designed to allow dancers to move efficiently, feel enthusiastic about class, and enables teachers to observe the body accurately for precise posture and alignment corrections.
Do I need to buy the dance uniform before I enrol ?
No pressure at all! You have approximately 4 weeks grace period to place your uniform orders. While sooner is better, we completely understand if you need some time to get everything sorted. We’re here to make the process smooth and stress-free for you.
Can my child do more than one style of dance ?
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it! Engaging in more than one style not only sparks excitement but also fosters versatility. Ballet and Modern Dance, for instance, beautifully complement each other. Explore our Triple Threat Packages for an even more dynamic experience. However, we also have students who choose to focus on one style, and that’s perfectly fine too. The joy of dance is about finding what resonates best with each dancer.
Do you have dance mirrors at Dance Dynamix Dance School ?
Currently, we teach at the local community hall and do not have a personally owned studio with mirrors. While having mirrors is a fantastic aspiration for the future, rest assured that your child will still benefit greatly from our classes without them. Dancing with mirrors has its advantages, but dancing without them has its unique pros as well. Our focus remains on providing an enriching and effective dance experience for every student.
What if my child doesn’t want to dance ?
Let’s first figure out if it’s a ‘today thing.’ Sometimes, fatigue, hunger, or not feeling well can masquerade as “I don’t want to dance!” Taking one class off might be the perfect solution. Each child is unique—some may be more confident than others, and adjustment periods vary. With years of experience, our dance teacher can usually assess if a child truly isn’t into the class and will suggest what’s best for them. After trying various approaches and encouraging the dancer not to give up, if it becomes clear that the child genuinely doesn’t want to dance, we’ll be transparent and discuss this openly with the parent. Our priority is the happiness of our dancers, and we never want to force them into something they’re not enthusiastic about.
What if my child doesn’t want to listen to the teacher ?
We believe in setting clear expectations from the get-go, accompanied by transparent consequences. While we explain class expectations in a nice and courteous manner, it’s important for dancers to understand that the teacher is in charge. Our teaching approach is centred around a long-term mindset, aiming to maintain passion over time, and we find that this approach is more likely to eventually influence positive behaviour. We love praising students when they exhibit good behaviour and give their best effort in movements. In instances where a dancer seems uncooperative, the teacher may approach them to enquire if something is bothering them or if they prefer not to participate. If disruptive behaviour persists, the teacher may kindly ask the dancer to sit out of an activity, with an invitation to return when they feel ready to participate.
Do you offer adult classes ?
Currently, we do not have full-time adult dance classes. However, you are more than welcome to enquire about private lessons as an alternative option. Our primary focus is on children and youths, catering to ages 3 to 25 years. If you have any questions or specific requests, feel free to reach out, and we’ll do our best to assist you.
Will Dance Dynamix Dance School have concerts or showcases ?
That is the goal! While we’ve had incredible success with concerts and showcases in South Africa, we’re optimistic to bring the same excitement to beautiful New Zealand. Although we’re a new school here, the prospect of showcasing our dancers’ talents is on the horizon. The possibility of a showcase depends on the growth of our dance school, venue availability, technical support, suitable dates, and the economic climate. To make a showcase truly spectacular, we encourage all Dance Dynamix students to participate when the opportunity arises. Stay tuned for the magic that’s sure to unfold!
Does Dance Dynamix Dance School break for school holidays and public holidays ?
Yes, we align with the school term calendar and do not conduct regular classes during school holidays and public holidays, unless otherwise communicated. However, classes continue as usual on school-teacher-only days. Keep an eye out for our school holiday workshops when we advertise them—it’s a great opportunity for extra dance fun during the break!
Is class attendance really that important ?
Absolutely! Consistent class attendance is vital for the overall success and progress of each dancer. Without steady attendance and commitment, it’s challenging to achieve the desired results. Missing classes can impact a child’s development in dance, and they may start to feel a bit lost. Our goal is for all dancers to not just participate but to thrive in their dance journey.
Do I need to read the Terms and Conditions ?
We get it—rules and terms can be a snooze. But, hey, it ensures we’re all on the same page. Your child’s dance journey matters, and aligning expectations makes everyone happy. Our info is straightforward, preventing any hiccups. Happy parents make for happy teachers (and vice versa). So, a little reading now means a lot of joy later! Go make yourself a cup of coffee, start reading and make sure you are content with what we offer!
