Meet Your Dance Teacher

Hello!
I’m Romanda Beukes – founder and principal teacher of Dance Dynamix Dance School. I’m a qualified and dedicated dance educator originally from the vibrant country of South Africa, now proudly teaching in Beachlands, New Zealand. My dance journey began as a shy five-year-old in a ballet class. Dance quickly became my way to express creativity and find confidence. It gave me a voice before I ever found the words. That early experience shaped how I now teach and connect with young dancers.
I started assisting my teacher at age 14, and by 18 I began my first formal teaching qualifications. After 13 years of training as a dancer, I continued to complete further teaching exams and accreditations. Expanding my skills across Modern Dance, Ballet, Contemporary, and Hip Hop. In 2015, I had the privilege of taking over my childhood dance studio in South Africa. An experience that strengthened my leadership and deepened my commitment to helping dancers thrive.
When our family relocated to New Zealand in 2022, I said farewell to my South African dance families and established Dance Dynamix Dance School in 2023.
Outside the studio, I’m a proud mum to a wonderful son and daughter, and happily married to my high school sweetheart. I’m a coffee devotee, animal lover, and believer that the best ideas happen when you’re barefoot and surrounded by music or nature. Contemporary dance is my happy place – I love crafting choreography and exploring free movement. Ballet is where I ground myself and return to my solid dance foundations.
Teaching Philosophy
When I was younger, I was driven by choreography, concerts, and refining technique. As much as I still love those aspects and bring them into the class, what fulfills me most now is watching children grow as humans. Seeing friendships form, confidence grow, and children realise how resilient and capable they truly are.
Guiding Principles
I was born to teach and born to serve. I am a nurturer. That’s my God given gift. My strength lies in breaking down movement so every child can understand, inspiring them to improve, sparking creativity, and highlighting their strengths. I love simplicity. I love learning.
Purposeful Teaching
Teaching dance is my calling. Guiding young people to discover their confidence, creativity, and sense of belonging through movement is the purpose that fuels every class I teach.
Qualifications
Every qualification I’ve earned has shaped the way I teach. Combining technique with understanding, and structure with care. It means your child is guided by someone who knows how to build confident and capable dancers.
